It's a process

The flight to Europe is still not an easy one.  LAX to Miami, to Madrid, to San Sebastian.  I thought I would get better at sleeping on planes but I think I'm getting worse.  Got absolutely no sleep on the entire flight.  The Madrilainos have devised an ingenious method of discouraging loiterers in their airports.  They have invented the worlds most uncomfortable chairs, with absolutely no way of stretching out or getting comfortable. Made of a hard rubberized plastic that barely gives under thumb pressure.  I have a pretty well padded butt, however even this was killing me after 10 minutes of sitting.  I think the CIA would do well to abandon waterboarding and make detainees sit in these chairs for a short period and they would give up all their secrets.
Wolds most uncomfortable chairs!

I've sat on more comfortable cinder blocks or plastic buckets.  Of course I arrived at the Madrid airport fried to a crisp with no sleep.  Even the night before we slept at the Comfort Inn near LAX I didn't get a lot of sleep. They had these pillows that were like a zip lock bag full of mash potatoes.  Not good, but that's the indignities of travel.  The important part is that we arrived in San Sebastian safely, tired but safe.

The redeeming thing about the Madrid airport, they had Jamon!!!  Saved by a salad with Jamon
