I guess I'm not a 3 star guy
On May 4 we had reservations at Restaurant Arzak a 3 Michelin start restaurant in San Sebastian. Don't get me wrong. The experience was incredible even for $550 euro's which included everything. The restaurant is situated in a nice residential area of San Sebastian. We were able to walk from our hotel. It was about 2.5 miles but it was a nice walk. Of course we arrived a little early only to see the other American't circling the the place like vultures waiting for 9 PM. This was the earliest reservations that they took. They were nice enough to give us a tour of the kitchen, just before service at their busiest time. It was an especially nice touch that Chef Eleanna Arzak, came by each and every table and greeted us and took photos with everyone. Very special
I'm not going to even describe each dish except to say that it was wonderful and the service fantastic. I think that however I am over the tasting menu thingy. It's just way too much food. After about the 6th or 7th course, I'm waving the white flag. Full to the point of being miserable. I think the fatter I get, the less volume I can eat. Like the skinny guy at the Nathan's hot dog eating contest who can put away 70 hot dogs. I'm the fat guy that can only eat 20.
It was a very special experience. Didn't get back to the hotel until about 1 AM after a 9 PM reservation
