You can hop on but you can't hop off
After sleeping for 12 hrs on our first night and hitting
the great breakfast bar in the Una we were ready to go. First stop the large outdoor market near the
hotel. Lot ’s of everything from veg and fruit to
fish and misc of all kinds. Then to the
big fish market. I’m having some issues that
I’m resolving with my photos so no photos for now but I will soon have some
photos. Visited Castel Orsino and had
lunch at Trattoria d’Antonio (a recommendation from the taxi driver). Food was
good and pretty cheap. Next we saw that Catania had a number of hop on hop off busses, so
we decide to take the city tour and take the “KataneLive” bus. It was only 5 euros’ and it had a stop right
near the Museo Sbarco (museum of the invasion of Sicily , when the allies invaded to remove the
Nazi occupation). We get on, our stop “Chimeneire”
was the 3rd stop. We are
watching for the stop and he drives right by it. Since he didn’t stop we thought that maybe it
was not the right stop. It wasn’t until
a couple of miles later that he made a stop and we were able to ask the driver,
a surly you guy who seemed much more interested in making calls on his mobile
at each stop than helping out lost passengers.
We asked him about it at the stop and all I could make out was “we turn
around”. Well we never really turned
around and had to stay on the bus for the entire circuit, about 45 minutes but
we made it clear which stop we wanted to get off on, and he finally did let us
off at the stop we wanted.
