The Metropolitan Museum of Art - amazing. MOMA, not so much
The Metropolitan Museum of Art
One of the best Art museums in the world. We really enjoyed this museum. A great colletion of great art from ancient times up until the late 19th century. They had tons of beautiful ancient works from giant buddish fresco's to huge assyerian wall carvings. All the old masters. I'm not a huge art afficianodo but as we walked through this place I keep noticing things that I was familiar with. Famous painting and art pieces that I've seen all my life. They had a great section of modern pottery which I found very facinating. Loved this place. I could have spent days in this place
MOMA
OK now for my rant on modern art. You can call me a luddite. I understand the importance of allowing very creative people to do very creative things, but much of this stuff is just incomprehensible. There was quite a few things in this museum that was very enjoyable. They had a really good collection of impressionist paintings and scuptures, but it seems like the middle of the last century it all began to go wrong for me. I'm not saying that it's bad or wrong but just that I don't think it's possible to understand or appreciate it without someone explaing it to you.
