Dinning with Locals at Freemans

Linda's brothers daughter Nancy, has been living in Brooklyn for about 10 years now.  We tried to hook up the day we went to Brooklyn for dinner but that didn't works so we arranged to meet for dinner in Manhattan.  She recommends this local spot call Freeman's, a farm to table place that you have to through an alley to get to.  You would never find this place walking by.  No tourist here.  They don't take reservations so we meet at 7.  Lot's of buzz in this place but not so much that you have to yell at each other to talk. Lot's of stuffed animals on the wall.  Maybe that's' in keeping with the farm to table theme,  not sure.  They tell us that it may be an hour or an hour and a half before a table is ready, so we scoot up to the bar to have drinks until  the tables ready preparing for a long siege.  We got about 15 minutes into our first drink and the matrie d' tell us that our table is ready, great.  They must have told us an hour and a half to scare off the uncommitted. Started off with a nice bottle of white Bordeaux.   I ordered the pan seared Pollock with seasonal veg.  Really good.  Nice piece of fish with a great crusty sear on the outside and a tapenade on top.  Not overcooked.  Nice fall veg.  The only other thing I can attest to was the brownie we shared for dessert.  Delicious.  Ohhh butter and chocolate, a great marriage.

We had a really nice time with Nancy and Roman.  Roman who grew up and lives in New Jersey, is also in IT so we could commensurate on an number of work related topics.  It was good to see Nancy doing well and happy.  A very enjoyable evening.  I'm so glad we could hook up.
