Prepping for Manhattan
Typically our preparation for a significant trip is pretty thorough, bordering on obsessive. I relish the opportunity to research options and explore possibilities. I can chew on that bone for months. One of my revelations has been what a great conversation starter a trip to NYC is. Everyone has an opinion on where to go and what to do. Just bring up the topic and people will launch into a 10 minute diatribe on their favorite show, restaurant or activity.
The timing worked out pretty fantastic on this trip. We were able to do a home exchange with a woman that has a apartment in Manhattan in exchange for having her sister and brother-in-law stay at our place in San Diego for his 60th birthday. During this time we went to visit my family in Illinois. Originally we were supposed to spend 4 days in Yosemite, on the front end, but because of the fires we decided to cancel that portion of the trip and were able to rearrange our schedule to accommodate for extra days in Manhattan. So now we are able to spend entire 2 weeks in Manhattan. Very exciting.
