Your last meal in Guadalajara is free

After the cooking class we retired to the room to rest, and pack.  Preparing for our return flight early the next day.  It got to be about 9 PM and I was feeling a little hungry.  I didn't think I would be able to make it all night without food and Linda was neither hungry nor interested in going for a walk, so i decided to go out foraging on my own.  The Day before we had been to a bar/restaurant where we had had more than a few drinks and we noticed that there were several food stands just across the street.  I was feeling adventurous so I thought that I would head that direction to see what local street food I could find.  By the time I had got there all the food stands were closed.  I walked a little farther down the street in hopes of finding street food but no luck.  I decided to head back in the direction of the hotel and just in the next block I noticed a food truck.  I wasn't sure what kind of food truck it was but there was what looked like a hot dog painted on the side of the truck.  Not really what I was hoping for but beggars.  Walked up to the truck and in my best Spanish said Que es comida (I was hoping I was saying what is to eat?).  Immediately I hear back "hot dogs" in perfect english.  Nice.  We chatted in english since I had used up most of my spanish words, I asked him where he learned to speak such good english.  He said U of A.  Oh, OK now.  Wasn't expecting that.  I resisted saying if you studied at U of A why are you working on a food truck.  But I kept my mouth shut.  The asked if I wanted a hot dog, and I of course said yes.  Great, just then I noticed a San Diego Padres cooler behind the counter.  So I asked if this was like a Tijuana dog.  he said better.  Turns out it had chorizo and potato chips on it.  Oh all the major food groups.  It was a good dog.  I asked how much do I owe you.  They said it's free, you're our first customer.  Turns out the truck didn't officially open till next week and they were just trying to get the bugs out of the process.  I tried to insist that I wanted to pay but they refuse.  Why am I meeting so many great people in Guadalajara???  As I'm finishing up my dog, a young lady walks up and the guy from U of A say's oh her english is better than mine.  I think she was one of the guys girlfriends who was working on the trucks social media campaign.  She works at HP and we had a nice conversation.  As I'm finishing my dog they wanted to take my picture for facebook.  Of course I obliged but I also got their picture.  Wished them all good luck and Buenos Noches.  What a good sendoff to Guadalajara!
