Guadalajara has been a real pleasant surprise

We have been really pleasantly surprised at how nice all the people here have been, and how much we have enjoyed the city.  The hotel that we have been staying at, Villa Ganz has been fantastic.  A very comfortable pleasant boutique hotel in an upscale colonia of Guadalajara.  Villa Ganz has a great little covered area overlooking the small gardens where you can eat breakfast in the morning or drink wine at night.  The best thing about the hotel has been the staff.  Manuel and Armando couldn't have been nicer.  Manuel was incredibly helpful at helping me make arrangements before our arrival.  He's arranged a guided tour on our first day and a cooking class for our last day and also arranged transportation to and from the airport, and confirmed the quality of my restaurant recommendations and make all our dinner reservation.  Couldn't have asked for more helpful staff.

I didn't mention the weather.  We have really lucked out with the weather although they tell me that the weather is pretty typical.  if I didn't know better I'd have thought that I was in San Diego.  Beautiful  evenings every night.  We've had a number of dinners outside and it couldn't have been more pleasant,  70 degrees every night.  Armando was just telling us that Lake Chapala (about 20 mile from Guadalajara, and the largest freshwater lake in Mexico), has a moderating influence on the city along with the elevation which is about the same as Denver.  This make the climate temperate year round.
